So much for their coming back into the Marvel fold....?

There’ve been rumors about this for quite some time, but now director Bryan Singer has confirmed that there is indeed a crossover in the works between the X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

Singer has been talking to the folks behind the Fantastic Four reboot to discuss the possibilities of bringing the two teams together. According to Yahoo! Movies, Singer has this to say about the crossover possibilities:

Those ideas are in play. That would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it.

A mechanism, ey? Well, how exactly is this going to happen? Singer doesn’t seem to want to give too much away, but he does say:

It deals with time. That’s all I’m going to say.

Well, FINE. BE that way! That said, while I think a crossover would be cool, I was kinda hoping that eventually the X-Men and Fantastic Four would go the way of Spider-Man in that we’d see more joint work with Marvel Studios. We’ll see…

In the meantime, what do you all think of the possibilities of an X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover? Inquiring minds wanna know!
