Yup, The Second Star Wars Anthology Film Will Be a Boba Fett Origin Story

We assume the words "dark" and "gritty" aren't far behind.

Shortly after Josh Trank’s abrupt exit from the second Star Wars Anthology film for… reasons still in contention, it’s been reported that the project he left will indeed be the Boba Fett origin story the rumor mill hasn’t shut up about since the standalone movies were announced.

The Wrap, in breaking the news, seem fairly confident in their source—this isn’t an Instagram rumor, at least—despite Disney giving a predictable “no comment.” The Mandalorian bounty hunter was always likely to get his own movie in the spinoff films due to his popularity and general lack of backstory, so at least the other standalone movie, Rogue One, is getting the chance to give us something new before this one goes the more expected route.

Any remaining thoughts or opinions you haven’t already expressed 1,000 times since this rumor started? Let us know in the comments, as always.

Personally, I hope they title it “The Mandalorian Candidate.” I’ll leave you with that. Away!
