New Black Mirror Images Tease ’80s Looks and Social Media Evils

Recommended Videos

We’ve been really excited about Black Mirror getting another season, especially with the names attached. Creator Charlie Brooker shared photos from two different episodes on Twitter today.

The first is from “San Junipero,” which stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis in an ’80s setting. Look at those outfits! I’m still not over Stranger Things, so I’m glad to see more gigantic glasses and cool jackets. The episode will be directed by Owen Harris, who also led the heart-wrenching episode “Be Right Back” starring Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson, so I have high hopes.

The next two photos are from “Nosedive,” an episode starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Alice Eve, and James Norton. I’m especially excited about “Nosedive,” because Joe Wright of Atonement and Pride and Prejudice is the director, and Rashida Jones and Mike Schur were the writers. Netflix says this one is a “social satire about identity in the social-media age. Although currently the image looks a lot like a crowd playing Pokémon Go.

What do you think about the images so far? There aren’t a lot of hints yet about what kind of dystopia we’ll be seeing in these episodes, but that uncanny blend of the familiar and exaggerated is what makes Black Mirror so interesting!
