Sign of the Times: Nike Leaks Back to the Future Shoes

Remember in Back to the Future Part II, when Marty McFly gets those awesome sneakers that, as if by magic, tie themselves and tighten; and then he remarks “Cool, power laces”? Well, soon we may all be able to get power laced shoes. That’s right, Nike is making Nike Air Mags, the exact same shoes and name from the movie.

Comicbookmovie.com reports:

Nike filed a patent for this invention in 2009, but this is the first sign that Marty’s shoes from 2015 will be making their debut very soon. The shoes will carry the same name as the did in the film, Nike Air Mags. The news is still just breaking, Nike must of let some information slip though. Kevin Durant recently tweeted that he needed new shoes and finished the tweet with, “Think McFly Think.” While today, one of the producers of the trilogy eluded to big news coming on the Back to the Future front, and then just tweeted the video below.

How close the actual shoes will be compared to how they are presented in the movie is yet to be seen, but they look awesome, and even if they end up being technologically disappointing, it would still be super cool to walk around wearing Marty McFly’s shoes.

So let’s see, we now have shoes that lace themselves, video games where you don’t use your hands. Hoverboards are next! I’m looking at you Mattel, get on it!

That quote from Comicbookmoive.com needs some serious editing. It’s not must of, it’s must’ve, short for must have.

Not if she holds the patent before 2009. The video just came out in 2010.
