EIC Axel Alonso Discusses What’s Next for Marvel Post-Secret Wars

Recommended Videos

In an interview with Grantland Podcasts’ “The Andy Greenwald Podcast,” Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief, Axel Alonso, spoke at length about what it takes to bring Marvel “events” together. He also alluded to what the story of the next major story after Secret Wars might be. Check out the interview in full above!

With regard to the upcoming story, Alonso says:

I feel that we’ve been talking for a while about a story that has, let’s just say a lot of meat on its bones. A lot of meat on its bones that really speaks to the world right now and the zeitgeist of the day, something that we think everyone will relate to — that reads a comic book, that watches TV, that has an iPhone or a Blackberry. We’re slowly whittling that down to the story we’re going to be very proud of. I can’t give you an estimated date for it, because we’re not forcing it, but again, it’s something we’re being patient with.

So, does this mean we’re getting into Black Mirror territory in the Marvel Universe? Are our favorite Marvel heroes going to have to save us from…our love of the latest gadget?

What do you think is in store for the Marvel Universe, and what would you like to see?
