Anton Yelchin, who was most widely known for his portrayal of Chekov in the new Star Trek films but also roles in movies like Alpha Dog, Charlie Bartlett and Green Room, unexpectedly passed away early this morning in a fatal traffic accident at the age of 27. His publicist, Jennifer Allen, confirmed the news in a statement.
His next film appearance was in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond, which is currently scheduled for a July release.
Yelchin’s family is requesting privacy at this time, according to his representative.
