My Spidey Sense Is Tingling

Andrew Garfield to Don the Spandex Suit Again in The Amazing Spider-Man Sequel

Was there ever any doubt? As of yesterday, floppy-haired Peter Parker Andrew Garfield has officially signed on star in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. Also announced is the return of director Marc Webb, which was in doubt due to Webb being contractually obligated to direct a film for Fox. But all that’s been worked out (dare we say… untangled?) now.

Yet to officially sign on is Emma Stone, but there’s no reason to get anxious about Ms. Stacy just yet—she’s said to be in the final stages of negotiations and is fully expected to return in the Spidey sequel.

The film, which has a release date (May 2, 2014) but no title quite yet, will be written by franchise newbies Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Mission: Impossible III, Transformers) and Jeff Pinkner (“and” vs “&”—very important when discussing screenwriting credits) and, like The Amazing Spider-Man, is based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt (who, according to IMDB, is a distant cousin of Anderson Cooper. Huh.) Hopefully the fresh blood will make the story more coherent than it was last time.

I don’t really want to see a sequel …I just kinda wish Sony would give up the rights to Spiderman Movies so Spiderman can be in a Avengers movie or something….

Until this story broke, I forgot Amazing Spider-Man even existed and I saw it opening day.

So yeah, I hope it’s much MUCH better than the last one. What a huge, lazy, generic pile of meh that was. And yeah, add me to the chorus who would prefer Spidey’s rights to go back to Marvel.

LOL! When I first read this I thought “A dead American president is wearing Spiderman outfit?” LOL on me!

THIS. Don’t understand why not, since Spidey is a huge part of The Avengers. Not to mention one of my fav super-heroes…

    Orci and Kurtzman? Poor Spidey…

Agree with the Spider-Man movie option reverting back to Marvel Studios, but I’d rather they never have him as a member of The Avengers. Bendis adding Spidey and Logan to The Avengers’s roster in the 00′s was a cheap marketing ploy. Peter always balked at joining any team permanently.
