Real Or Not Real?

Amandla Stenberg, aka The Hunger Games‘ Rue, Is Coming to Sleepy Hollow

And this time her casting isn’t met with racist WTF-ery!

A few days back TVLine told us that Sleepy Hollow is getting a pair of new characters in the form of Captain Irving’s (Orlando Jones) ex-wife and teen daughter. The wife’s still a mystery, but the show’s tapped Amandla Stenberg, best known for playing Rue in The Hunger Games, to play his daughter Macey.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Stenberg’s character “feels disconnected from her dad since he has taken up his post in Sleepy Hollow.” Here’s hoping her fate’s less grim than that of her Hunger Games counterpart.

When the show comes back on November 4th following its baseball-induced hiatus (ugh, sports) James Frain and John Noble will both put in their first appearances, the latter as a “Sin Eater,” whatever that is. And according to the trailer John Cho—who, along with his freaky neck, have been MIA for a few episodes—will have a triumphant return. And then a few weeks later, on November 25th, Stenberg’s Macey will show up for the first time.

The geek is strong with this show.

I wonder if it will be anything like thisl idea of a sin-eater. I find the idea rather fascinating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sin_eater

I’m really happy to see this. I liked her a lot in the movie and was disappointed to see she hadn’t really gotten a lot of work lined up after that.

Your don’t know what a sin-eater is? Heath Ledger!

Huh, that’s interesting. Never heard of that before.

(Though I think the best part of the article is “not to be confused with the ’80s pop singer Sinitta.”)

That’s not how sports on TV works.
Sleepy Hollow – along with a lot of Fox’s other programming – is being pre-empted for the World Series, which is (to millions and millions of baseball fans) rather a big deal. The reason it’s being shown on Fox is that there are a LOT of people that can’t afford, or don’t pay, for the kind of premium cable packages needed to get something like MLB Network, so this way, those fans can still watch the Series. Broadcasting on Fox allows the sporting event to reach the widest possible audience.
More generally, when sports are on TV, each channel *is showing a different game.* Just because three channels have “NFL Football” on a Sunday afternoon does not mean they’re all showing the same game, and once Sunday night rolls around, there’s only one channel broadcasting one game. “Every damn channel” does NOT show “the same damn game.” They all show different games, and often, different sports.
So yes, you are the only one tired of the thing you have constructed.
I’m sad that it’ll be a few weeks without new Sleepy Hollow, but I understand that the money from something like the World Series helps produce shows like Sleepy Hollow, so I’m willing to accept the trade off.

“And this time her casting isn’t met with racist WTF-ery!”

I really hope Miss Stenberg becomes a big star: she deserves better than to have her name tied to one of the most mind-bending outpourings of idiocy ever to blight social media. I mean, we can’t pretend it didn’t happen, but at the same time, I’d much rather it didn’t haunt her career.
