Cruella Deville Gets Her Own Movie, Written by 50 Shades of Grey Screenwriter

cruella

If you didn’t have the Cruella Deville song stuck in your head, you do now. That’s just fine, because apparently Disney is fast-tracking a live-action movie featuring Cruella Deville. It’s intended to be in the same vein/style as Maleficent. It’s possible this is going to be a re-imagining of Cruella’s origins, but really, we don’t know for sure as there are no plot details to share yet.

What we do know, however, is that it’s being written by Kelly Marcel, the screenwriter behind such Disney hits as Saving Mr. Banks and Fifty Shades of Grey–wait, what?

Hold on, I just had an idea.

FADE IN:

INT. BEDROOM – DAY

High atop a skyscraper penthouse in London, a woman, CRUELLA DEVILLE stands before her floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the cityscape. In her red gloved hand, a cigarette in a cigarette holder burns gently.

CRUELLA DEVILLE:
Dah-ling, do you know why I’ve brought you here?

From off-screen, another woman, ANITA, enters, a silhouette breaking into the frame. She’s walking towards CRUELLA, who doesn’t turn around.

ANITA:
I’m not sure…

CRUELLA DEVILLE:
You see, Anita Dahhling, my interests, my… desires are…

QUICK CUT TO:

Puppies. Dalmations running around, playing, barking, swarming over each other, CRUELLA smiling evilly over them.

QUICK CUT TO:

Back at the penthouse.

CRUELLA DEVILLE (cont’d):
… unconventional.

ANITA hesitates, then stops before proceeding further. She shifts her weight from one foot to another, nervously.

CUT TO BLACK.

ANITA
Show me.

FADE IN TITLE:

CRUELLA cackles as the title text fades in slowly.

FIFTY SHADES OF DEVILLE
SUMMER 2017

Call me, Disney.
